SENIOR ENGINEER (GAME GENERALIST)

Founded in March of 2022, Sword and Wand is a fully remote studio based in the United States by industry veterans with past experience at Turtle Rock, Monolith, Volition, and other AAA studios.

Backed by VC funding, we are building the next great co-operative PVE third person action game for PC and Consoles.

Our core focus is in enabling people to play games together - both internally as developers and in creating amazing, connected experiences for our fans.

We’re looking for someone who’s great at

  • Writing C++ code for an Unreal Engine 5 based game.

  • Architecting and implementing flexible and efficient gameplay systems and features.

  • Writing code that works correctly and efficiently in a multiplayer environment.

  • Debugging complex systems in a multiplayer and asynchronous environment.

  • Using Blueprints, and understanding when not to.

  • Collaborating closely with designers and other stakeholders to implement features and tools that work for everyone.

  • Expressing technical designs and other ideas through iterative documentation.

  • Participating in code reviews to improve the code base and ensure engineering quality.

  • Enthusiastic in sharing knowledge and discussing approaches with the broader team.

Pluses

  • Five years experience in a AAA environment as an engineer.

  • Shipped one or more AAA titles.

  • Experience with console development.

  • Experience with the Gameplay Ability System in Unreal.

  • Experience with performance profiling and optimization.
